The Importance of Mind and Intelligence Games in Children’s Development
Mind and intelligence games can increase children’s IQ rates and ability to think logically and solve problems. It is known that there is certain research on this.
Now, children have a life where they can easily access every aspect of technology. Therefore, their intelligence and consciousness development is swift. They can perceive and evaluate everything differently in a very short time. For this reason, the effects of mind and intelligence games on the development of children are very diverse. This subject occupies a significant place in child development.
Every family wants their children to have the best education. However, some studies may be insufficient only when done at school. Parents who want to reveal their children’s existing capacity and develop different skills can easily benefit from mind and intelligence games while dealing with their children. Thus, they can safely develop their children’s memory, strategic thinking, visual intelligence, logical thinking, innovative thinking, and behavioural skills with different mind and intelligence games. According to a study conducted at Berkeley University, playing various mind and intelligence games for one hour and fifteen minutes twice a week resulted in a 13-point increase in IQ scores. The children’s ability to think more logically increased by 32 per cent. (1)
Intelligence games allow children’s brains to perform at a high level, allowing them to make more logical and accurate decisions. They can also accelerate children’s ability to comprehend, subconsciously recognise, and understand factors.
Intelligence games should sometimes be played alone and sometimes with a group. Either way, the effect on intelligence development is extremely high. Of course, sometimes playing individually and sometimes in a group is more beneficial. It has been observed to be more effective in this way. (1)
So, what responsibilities does the family have while developing the child’s brain with intelligence and mind games?
Mind and intelligence games help families get to know their children better and discover their children’s skills in different fields. Thus, families can guide their children more effectively and communicate more effectively. While children’s attention, focus, and concentration increase with intelligence games, they are both motivated, and the parents can improve themselves with the child. Communication with the child improves, and a more mutually understanding period begins.
Another important aspect of intelligence and mind games is that they offer children a more effective working method at all times. In each game, the child learns to know themselves and evaluate themselves with their peers. They recognise and understand how to improve themself in each game. They also learn to control themselves.
In her book Parenting Without Borders, Christine Gross Loh describes the importance of encouraging children to do activities they can always do better. For instance, the author notes that in Japan, parents prioritise mental exercises and encourage children to strive for improvement even when they fail or receive negative feedback from their peers. According to Loh, it is no coincidence that the Japanese are the most hardworking people. With these methods, they are able to raise a society that can work more efficiently and think more effectively. (2)
For this reason, it is important to encourage the child to do better. Mind and intelligence games stand out as one of the most frequently used methods in this regard. Intelligence games also increase children’s ability to make predictions and projections for the future. In this case, the child makes better choices about their education and learning life and makes better friends.
Another significant effect is that the child does not get lost in the details, which increases the ability to see the whole. Children in the UK can often feel overwhelmed by the multitude of exams and success criteria they face. However, it is important to remember that the ultimate goal is the same for everyone – to achieve success by obtaining the desired education and living the desired life. To achieve this, it is essential that children stay focused on this goal. Utilizing games that support intelligence and critical thinking can help children develop the skills they need to succeed more efficiently and effectively.
